Baked Fussili

Found half a packet of fussili about to expire in April. So I looked for a recipe, in fact, for baked macaroni (some with pizza like recipe) and make use of whatever i have in the kitchen. no capsicum though, so i used red chilis in small amount (the kids don't like chillis), button mushroom, eggs, chicken sausages and.. guess what, i blended ramly burger's beef patties.. ha ha ha..

Yesterday, we stopped by the durian stall on our way back from work.
8 small durians costed RM10 and we got an extra one.
As usual, Yiyi, the number one durian lover, asked us to open them up for him.

And all 9 durians were history in just a couple of hours :)

Nama saintifik: Baccaurea polyneura (jentik-jentik merah) dan Baccaurea hookeri (jentik-jentik)

Famili: Euphorbiaceae

POKOK jentik-jentik berasal dari Malaysia, Sumatera hingga ke Borneo. Keunikannya, buah
yang cukup masak apabila dijentik terus terbuka (asal usul namanya) dan bijinya yang berjus biasanya dimakan terus.

Sebilangan besar generasi muda sekarang ini mungkin tidak pernah melihat buah jentik-jentik, jauh lagi pernah memakannya. Satu ketika dulu, jentik-jentik menjadi tanaman dusun dan mudah ditemui di kampung. Apabila tiba musim, kanak-kanak gemar memakan buahnya dan terus menelan bijinya. Ada dua spesies jentik-jentik, iaitu Baccaurea Polyneura yang sering juga dipanggil jentik-jentik merah dan Baccaurea hookeri dipanggil jentik-jentik.

Pokok jentik-jentik merah sederhana saiznya mencapai ketinggian antara 20 meter hingga 25 meter. Pokoknya seakan-akan pokok rambai. Daunnya oblong 12 hingga 15 sentimeter (sm) panjang, 4 hingga 6 sm lebar berwarna hijau tua. Bunganya kecil, banyak, bersesak-sesak pada tangkai jambak yang berjuntai sepanjang 20 hingga 30 sm dari dahan tua. Buah jentik-jentik seakan-akan buah rambai, bergantung-gantung pada tangkai, berwarna kekuningan dan bertukar kemerahan apabila masak. Terdapat tiga biji dalam satu buah dan isinya berjus, berwarna merah. Rasanya masam-masam manis. Spesies Baccaurea Hookeri yang juga dikenali sebagai jentik-jentik mempunyai buahnya yang seakan-akan buah rambai tetapi lebih besar sedikit daripada buah jentik-jentik merah.

Apabila cukup masak ia berwarna kuning keperangan. Buah yang cukup masak apabila dijentik terus terbuka. Tiga bijinya berwarna kemerahan, berjus dan rasanya masam-masam manis Pembiakannya adalah dengan cara menyemai biji benih. Penanamannya memerlukan tanah yang subur. Di dusun tua, kebanyakan pokok ini ditanam secara tak formal hasil daripada buangan biji benih. Sebagai pokok buahan yang pernah menjadi elemen dalam dusun Melayu dan kampung, pokok jentik-jentik ini sepatutnya ditanam dan dipulihara di taman awam supaya generasi muda dapat mengenali warisan negara.
